She is a qualified Primary School Teacher and is an Instrumental Piano Teacher at Belgrave South. She has a Bachelor of Music (Monash University), and a Graduate Diploma of Teaching (Monash University) and she performs with the Dandenong Ranges Orchestra. Elizabeth enjoys teaching and performing. Even theory seems like fun and is included in the regular lessons along with technical exercises such as scales. Students eagerly participate in concerts throughout the year. Exam repertoire can be chosen from the Classical or the Piano for Leisure Syllabus which includes funky blues and jazzy syncopated pieces that are fun to play for school friends. The students are strongly encouraged to include pieces in their repertoire that are meaningful to them. Every child is encouraged to feel a sense of their own personal and individual response to music. The individual achievements of each child are acknowledged and each child feels a sense of achievement at their accomplishments. The school uses a Yamaha Grand Piano. Elizabeth's students learn to play an instrument in an environment that is safe and encouraging.
